Shaadi Ke Side Effects’ opened with a decent note. The film seems failed to impress the audience and it fall flat despite an excellent comic timing of Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar. Occupancy in New Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon were registered around 40% whereas in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, the film had an opening day occupancy of around 20 – 30%, which is very poor considering it is a Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar movie.

The film has earned 4.5 crore in the opening day. The Asia Cup cricket match between India and Sri Lanka might have played a spoilsport.

‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’ which basically shows the relationship of husband and wife after marriage opened with a positive review from critics. The film has done better in comparison to previously released movies like ‘Highway’, ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ and ‘Gunday’.

The sequel to ‘Pyaar Ke Side Efects’ starring Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat, Vidya and Farhan starrer ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’ gained momentum only in the evening shows. The film basically deals with the incidents that took place after marriage. Made on a budget of 18 crores, the film is expected to make around 10 crore in the opening weekend which is not so impressive.

Directed by Saket Chaudhary, the film is well promoted by the lead protagonists on national shows. This is Vidya’s first release post marriage and her fans are expected to step into the nearest cinema hall to see Vidya’s performance.

"The positive reviews and strong word of mouth are expected to lend a boost to its business. Also, with no major opposition to contend with, Shaadi Ke Side Eeffects is expected to dominate the marketplace this week," trade analyst Taran Adarsh said.

Meanwhile, ‘Gunday’ starring Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Irrfan Khan released two weeks back finished the two weeks run at the domestic box office.

In two weeks ‘Gunday’ earned Rs76.12 crore and has safely entered the blockbuster zone.

Gunday [Week 2] Fri 2.03 cr, Sat 2.61 cr, Sun 3.51 cr, Mon 1.27 cr, Tue 1.14 cr, Wed 1.03 cr, Thu 1.45 cr. Grand total: c 76.12 cr nett," Adarsh tweeted.
The earnings of the film will go down this week as SKSE has hit the screens in India. It is expected that ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’ would make a good earnings at the box-office in the first weekend and days ahead.
